Gordy LinkHarold Geneen said, “Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions.”

And if there is anyone who is committed to taking action with the intent of moving WCC Business Solutions into the future, it’s our President and CEO, Gordy Link.

WCC Business Solutions was founded in 1976 by his father, Gordon link and acquired by Gordy in 2015.

We caught up with Gordy recently to ask about some of the changes he’s made since acquiring the company and learn more about what he thinks sets our business apart from the rest.

Could you start by just sharing the biggest changes you’ve made since acquiring the company in 2015?

Some of the biggest changes we have made are positioning the company for growth. To do that we really dug into our processes to come up with ways to streamline the way we do business.

Sacrificing customer service wasn’t an option instead we made heavy investments into systems that track our service team’s efficiencies as well as measure our customer’s satisfaction.

We have also made heavy investments into our sales team. We have seasoned veterans who know the industry. But that’s only part of the equation. It was essential that the members of our sales team embody our core values of integrity, customer focus and a commitment to excellence.

This I believe is the secret sauce. Our team has to be committed to holding themselves to the highest standards and be not only willing, but happy to go above and beyond to make our customers happy.  

WCC is focused on being the best business technology company in Tampa bay and having the most satisfied customers. We want to create such a positive experience for our customers that refuse to leave because they are so well cared for. We have customers currently that have been with us over 30 years as well as employees with 30 plus years of tenure. That’s virtually unheard of for most businesses.

What do you believe is the single biggest accomplishment WCC has had thus far?

I believe the biggest accomplishment was restructuring our organization and building our sales team. These two things will help us grow into our already great service team. I always joke that we were the best keep secret because we always had a small sales team. Now we are looking to spread the word, not only through our team, but with the help of our large number of happy customers. We attribute a lot of our new customers to word of mouth from our current customers. And let’s be honest, that’s the best compliment a business can get.

What do you think it is what makes WCC Business Solutions different?

I think the biggest differentiator we have is the culture of WCC. It’s truly amazing. Everyone here is engaged and committed to delivering great customer service to our customers. I remind our team every day that the reason we exist is because of our customers and that without them we wouldn’t be here. I believe that attitude is genuine and our customers feel that every day when we interact with them.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The most satisfying part of my role is developing our team. We are building something that didn’t exist before and we have customers that depend on us, which makes what we do very rewarding.

How do you spend your time when you aren’t in the office?

 I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my family. I love fishing, hunting and golfing. I always joke that the only reason I work is so I can fish and hunt.

Who is your favorite team (college or professional)?

Florida State is my favorite team and it’s been tough the last few years but I am hopeful they will turn the program around and start to dominate again.
